Cat Grooming Treatments and Services

Stan's Pals Cat Grooming and Pampering Services

Cat grooming takes place in an area that has been specially planned to use for the cats when they need grooming.

We use our therapy room which is closed to dogs on days it is being used for cat grooming. The therapy room has the added advantage of being a totally internal room with no exit doors directly to outside and no windows so no escape routes for clever cats who may want to explore!

The menus on this page show what treatments and services we offer but if you think you need something that is not listed please pop in and chat to our cat team - we are always happy to help and may be able to arrange a bespoke service for something your cat needs.

Note - these treatments are designed to remove loose hair and are not a solution to matting which would need to be treated separately

Matted Cats

We can help if your cat has become matted and the cost depends on how bad the matting is. We don't stress cats out by trying to untangle mats over a prolonged period of time, if we can't deal with them quickly and kindly we would be looking to trim them out and this may mean we would have to shave areas of your cat. Fur does of course grow back and this is often fairly quick. All matted cats will need to have a consultation with our groomers before we can give an estimate of price and some advice on aftercare for if your cat does need to have a significant amount of fur shaved.

As a pre-consultation guide badly matted cats could attract a fee of up to £25 over the cat dry groom pamper treatment. If we feel the matting is so bad it would mean your cat would be very stressed by our intervention we may refer you to the vet where it may be necessary to have the mats removed under anaesthetic. Stan's Pals recommend Bright Side vets should this be needed.

 Teeth Clean

It is very important to look after your pet's teeth.

We can help by getting them used to having their teeth cleaned and then showing you how it is done.

Some dogs and cats are not suited to this treatment and may need to visit a vet to have their teeth cleaned.

We are happy to assess and let you know.

£20 per session - only available for those pets who are suitable and not seen as a bite risk.

A word about fleas

We see lots of fleas on both dogs and cats but we do not sell flea treatments in the shop. This is because we advise against using pet shop strength flea treatments.

If your pet has fleas we recommend a trip to the vets where prescription strength treatments can be obtained and these are much more effective. Shop bought flea treatments can turn out to just be a waste of money. The picture shows fleas on a cat that had very recently and regularly received shop bought flea treatments.

Prevention is of course better than cure so we suggest all our customers visit Bright Side Vets and make a nurse appointment to obtain flea and worm treatments. You can be assured that they will deliver efficient and fast service which will also be effective in eliminating fleas.

Should we find a flea infestation during a groom we will contact you to plan how to proceed. If is it really bad we may have to delay until after you have seen a vet or vet nurse.
